Katelyn Howell is a dynamic force in public health with a distinguished academic background and an unwavering commitment to community service.  Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Katelyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Spelman College. 

​

During her time at Spelman, Katelyn distinguished herself through her multifaceted involvement, serving as an Assistant Senior Resident Advisor and assuming the role of secretary for LYTEHOUSE, an organization dedicated to community service and mentorship within the Atlanta University Center and the broader West Atlanta community.  Through these impactful initiatives, Katelyn demonstrated her deep-seated passion for uplifting others and effecting positive change in her surroundings.

Katelyn’s academic journey has been marked by a pursuit of knowledge and a dedication to addressing pressing health disparities.  She seized invaluable research opportunities at prestigious institutions such as Cleveland Clinic Hospital and Johns Hopkins University, delving into critical issues affecting minority communities, including Sickle Cell Disease, HIV, and Hepatitis C. Her work underscores her commitment to advancing health equity and combating systemic injustices.

Currently, Katelyn serves as a Program Consultant with the Office of Health Opportunity at the Ohio Department of Health, where she spearheads efforts to eliminate population health disparities through strategic system-level interventions.  Concurrently, she is pursuing her Master of Public Health degree at Ohio State University on the Population Management and Leadership Track, further deepening her expertise and honing her skills as a future leader in public health.

With an unwavering dedication to her craft and a clear vision for the future, Katelyn aspires to leverage her expertise as a public health physician to tackle generational health issues in minority communities.  Through her tireless advocacy and compassionate approach, she is poised to make a transformative impact, shaping a healthier and more equitable future for all.
